Presenter: Kimberly Brusch EdM, RN with Eating Recovery Center
Kimberly Brusch’s background spans education, legislative issues and healthcare. She is a Utilization Review Manager for Eating Recovery Center and a Registered Nurse who has specialized in behavioral health for most of her career. Kimberly has worked with diverse patient populations from adolescents to geriatrics. Prior to moving into utilization review, she provided direct care and education to patients and families struggling with substance abuse and other serious mental illnesses. She is especially interested in improving the understanding of, and access to, mental health services among members of marginalized communities. Kimberly holds an undergraduate degree from Howard University and a Masters in Counseling and Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Navigating the insurance review process can seem daunting and confusing. Through this presentation, participants will learn about levels of care and their corresponding medical necessity criteria, get a better understanding of insurance jargon and processes, and recognize potential barriers to authorization and how to overcome them.
