Malak Saddy, RD, LD

Malak Saddy is a registered, licensed dietitian, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics from Michigan State University. Malak has over 5 years of experience in adolescent nutrition counseling, weight management, food cultures, and integrative nutrition education. Malak has traveled extensively around the world and appreciates different cultures. During her education at Michigan State, Malak studied abroad in Tanzania introducing protein rich soy beans to malnourished villages and creating nutrition programs for pregnant mothers. Malak is passionate about providing individualized nutritional care, and counseling support to patients and clients of all age, while being compassionate and empathetic to their needs.

Topic:
Intuitive eating in the treatment setting

Objectives:
Following the presentation participants will be able to identify the role of nutrition in treatment and in recovery, a non-diet approach integrating intuitive eating, and how to incorporate an all foods fit philosophy.

Abstract:
The presentation will cover the different treatment types of eating disorders and the integral role that the dietitian plays. Statistics as well as medical complications and nutrition therapy will be reflected on throughout the session with an emphasis on the dietary aspect of treatment. The importance of nutrients, their function in the body, and their role in recovery will also be presented and identified. Participants will be educated on the all foods fit philosophy and how to utilize a non-diet approach through dietary challenges as well as exposures during treatment stays as well as afterwards.
