It’s estimated that 30 million Americans will experience an eating disorder in their lifetime, affecting people of all identities—yet up to 90% won’t get the care they need. The impact is enormous, with someone dying every 52 minutes, a prevalence as high as drug use disorders, and at least $4.6 billion cost burden on the healthcare system every year. Arise exists to break down long-standing barriers, improve access, reduce costs, and provide exceptional care that leads to better long-term outcomes.

We take a person-centered, trauma-informed to care — holistically addressing the complex medical and behavioral health needs, sociocultural factors, and drivers of health that contribute to eating disorders. To do this, we integrate community/peer based care with personalized clinical services — pairing members with a Care Advocate to build trust, provide mentorship and coaching, and navigating care with the member; peer group support; and clinical pathways including therapy, dietetics, psychiatry, and medical care to support a range of needs. Delivered virtually through an app, video sessions, and asynchronous communication with care team members, Arise is meeting people where they are and delivering the right care for their individual needs.

Digital health entrepreneurs Amanda D’Ambra and Joan Zhang founded Arise out of their own journeys with eating disorders and deep experience in companies including Cityblock Health, Ginger/Headspace Health, Brightline, and Quartet. They convened clinical leadership that includes eating disorder expert and psychiatrist Erikka Dzirasa, MD, MPH, DFAACAP as Chief Medical Officer, and a Care Advisory Board of leading experts across the eating disorder field. Together, they are building Arise to empower effective support to help people heal their bodies and minds.
